Les Petroleuses
Les Petroleuses are multimedia improvising “arsonists” Gill Whiteley and Lyn Hodnett.
In their performances and videos, they pay homage to women of the 1871 Paris Commune (derisively knicknamed les petroleuses ). At the matriatrchal Mopomoso, they will be drawing out a slow burn, kindling the flames and ripping it up sonically, visually and vocally with cello, trumpet, viola, hurdy-gurdy, accordion, saucepans, cutlery, scissors, graphite, paper and assorted objects…expect a blazing din! For more on Les Petroleuses see Discus and some dedicated pages on previous performances.
