John Butcher, Phil Durrant & Mark Wastell

Born in Brighton and living in London, John Butcher is a saxophonist whose work ranges through improvisation, his own compositions, multitracked pieces and explorations with feedback, unusual acoustics and non-concert locations. He is well known as a solo performer who attempts to engage with a sense of place.

Born near London in 1957, Phil Durrant is a multi-instrumentalist improviser/composer/sound artist who currently performs solo and group concerts.

Mark Wastell is a versatile improvising musician who has played a central role in the British improvised music scene for over a quarter of a century.

N.O. Moore, Dominic Lash & Roger Turner

N.O. Moore is an electric guitarist with a parallel interest in electronics and drum machines. As an improviser, he has played with people such as Eddie Prévost, John Butcher, Rachel Musson, John Edwards, Sue Lynch, Alan Wilkinson, Steve Noble, and Steve Beresford. He can now be heard on a number of recordings, including Nous (with Prévost and Jason Yarde) on Matchless, and The Secret Handshake with Danger (with Henry Kaiser, Binker Golding, Olie Brice, and Prévost) on 577.

Dominic Lash is a freely improvising double bassist and electric guitarist who the Free Jazz Collective has called an “exceptional creative musician”. He also both writes and performs composed music and, as an academic, researches and writes about film.

Roger Turner has been working as an improvising percussionist since the early 1970’s, collaborating in numerous established and ad hoc configurations.

Mike Adcock & Stuart Wilding

Mike Adcock’s music embraces both composition and improvisation. He has made numerous solo, duet and band recordings including three with Accordions Go Crazy, ‘Lost for words’, ‘Moment of discovery’, ‘Sleep it off’ (with Clive Bell), ‘In the case of darkness’, ‘Reduced’ (with Sylvia Hallett), ‘Accord’, ‘Wanderlust’ and ‘Risky furniture’ (with Paul Jolly).

Stuart Wilding is an improvising percussionist, playing a mixture of junk percussion, lap harp and cello. He is active in several current collaborations: Ghost Mind, Longstone, Lo-fi Ensemble, Mike Adcock duo, Pete Robson duo, Professori Sognare, Madrona, the Cheltenham Improvisers Orchestra and Chris Cundy’s Speed Hobby. He currently runs the Lo-fi Improvised music Workshops in Camberwell. In the past he has worked in a number of smaller improvising ensembles and with the Flying Down Trio, Hither Green Drone Orchestra and Makeshift. He was also a performer and musician with the Hand in Glove Performance Group.
