Mopomoso TV June 2025: Luton Edition

The Luton Edition

A collection of performances spanning from 2020 to the present, combining contributions from artists across the UK and beyond with recordings developed through a sustained body of work in Luton over several years. That work — shaped by gatherings in heritage spaces, the Equinoks Festival, the Acoustic Survey Art Lab, and other sessions — has quietly grown into an archive of hundreds of hours of audio and video, much of it still unreleased.

These strands have been sustained through a commitment to improvisation and shared experimentation — with mopomoso improvisers offering generous and encouraging support throughout, both practically and artistically. At the centre of it all is a belief in free expression: in making together without hierarchy, exchanging ideas openly, and being fully present with one another in sound.

There is a deep debt of gratitude to the wider UK and international improvising community — including many performers not featured in this episode, but whose contributions and presence have shaped what’s to come. Their willingness to travel, to collaborate, and to show up in support has helped form a network of mutual trust and generosity.

This spirit — grounded in listening, responsiveness, and collective risk-taking — has created something humane, democratic, and quietly radical, especially in a town where such opportunities are few and far between.

We hope this glimpse into those shared moments resonates, and invites further listening, gathering, and exploration.

“Improvisation is playing the music you are least certain of.”
